Finally everything is over .. Its been a real long trip from America since CEO 2013 and EVO 2013 .. I think i had a really blessed year to have won both .. Now finally back into Singapore ..

Difference between Arcade Scene and Console Scene in Singapore

Singapore South East Asia Major is coming soon with more than 100+ internationals going to be in the event , More than $3000 prize pot for Street fighter.. More than $1k prize pot for Marvel , also many many other games going along .. Check out the latest trailer below ..



Why do people play in Arcade , and why do some play in Console (Tough Cookie Gaming Cafe) in singapore?

SImple reasons for me , I play in Tough Cookie because i wanna get used to PS3 timing , so as to prepare for the majors coming ahead.. My experience playing in the acrade has been kinda bad nowadays because of the LAG Issues in our singapore arcade machine , we have more than 3 different kind of timings for all the cabinets and whats worse is even the best 1 , is way laggier than playing on PS3. So when i play in arcade it just feels like i am playing online all day ..

I bump into all kind of different opponents in different acrades , but i notice everybody had a similiar playstyle .. People just likes to jump in on you no matter which character they are using.. What makes it worse?  Even when i was baiting the anti-air , my anti air always get stuffed out because i pressed it too late (Due to the lag issues) .. Footsies also not reactable .. Tech throw timings are weird.. Frame traps is kinda random to get.. 

What does that means?

IT means if i am a strong player playing in the arcade , i will never become as good internationally or playing in xbox or ps3 cabinets due to weird timings.. This kinda remind of how XIAOHAI from China been dropping combos everywhere in oversea tournaments that he join .. He misses the simplest bread and butter combo for cammy all day in EVO .. In TOPANGA Asia League.. Because China Cabinets is really laggy as well .. The only place in the world i know who has good arcade cabinets is only Japan...

It comes down to why are you playing the game in the arcade? Because its easier to win that way because you can just jump like a monkey all day and people cant anti air you? Or you just like playing mind games , without the ability to react to most of the things? I couldnt find the reason , which is why i left the arcade .. i go on playing console , stop playing arcade for about 2 years.. this is also how i get the results today .. doing better in international tournament and stuff..

If i am playing Street Fighter for 4 years , then i wasted 2 years playing in the arcade. My footsies were so ass in the arcade as well as my anti air , even after 2 years .. i Just repeat vortex to kill people.. If you think its hard to block top tier characters in console , imagine a laggy akuma and cammy doing vortex??

Travelling around the world this 2 years gaming , makes me realise Console Scene is sooo much more important. Because the world most competitvely players all play on CONSOLE..  Tough Cookie eventually surfaced in singapore , A place where you can play PS3 and XBOX with high level players .. thats when i stop playing in Arcade..

After saying so much , if you wanna get better in fighting games.. Support Tough Cookie and look for me. I will make you into a much better player :)

Today i remeber something today which i feel like blogging it , i dont really know if i am right though.. I seen alot of people pressing pause in a tournament .. i didnt know but i always felt like they probably accidentally press it by mistake..

It finally happened the first time to me in a tournament , i was playing against aziz from kuwait when i got stunned by his cammy .. i wasnt struggling and halfway through his combo , pause came out.. it was the black screen (when you need to hold on to the home button at ps3 about 2 sec) , i was like oh its ok you can continue ..then i realise omg its me who pressed the home button -_-" kinda embarassing but i just continue let aziz hit me to death for that round since i am already almost dead..

Then something came up to my mind.. how the hell did i press or even hold on the home button when i am not even struggling or pressing anything? The worse part was even if i really accidentally touch the home button .. it should comes out as the transparent screen section( where you can sign in and pick games ) , it definely shouldnt be this black screen with controlling settings because thats kinda impossible for somebody to hold on home button while getting hit..

Then i start remebering times where i saw people with the wtf face , when pause came out of nowhere in a tournament and they are like .. i didnt press anything wth.. i dont know if its the joystick problem or some wireless pad connected to it that connected to it as well resulting in that.. i couldnt understand what going on .. well , this issue doesnt really bother me , but just wanna say it hahahhah

Guess what , i didnt did much today since i realise i have 3 more days hahaha
Went to the mall eat with Mann , Gvoice and Douchebag.. We slept pretty much late because we were watching ECT the night before..Congrats to Jwong for taking AE .. Marvel Top 8 i gotta say its really exciting .. I not gotta spoilt it , you guys go watch :)

Played some KOF 13 today .. Its been sometime since i play , but i had fun playing.. then eventually went on the play SF4 sets FT 5 , so much practice with different matchups so everything was good.. We went to eat at some good restaurant after that , the lamb was so fantastic .. I guess i cant lost weight here -_-"

We went back to White Tower after that .. and i played my first set with Bahbahani .. OMG i got to say i was so impressed with this guy ..
Cos i lost 0-5 to his Ryu .. i swear i didnt really feel that tired but i just dunno what to do against him .. he read me well .. outzoned me .. footsies and fireball was on point .. blocked most of the jump ins .. i was lost..
All of a sudden i feel like playing this game alot , because its not like i didnt know the Ryu matchup.. but i know it so well that i didnt thought i actually would lose 5 games straight to a Ryu player =_=

I cant even say i am salty cos i am not LOL , i didnt know what to do .. Though i got to run it back , but after this 2 sets with Bahbahani ryu , i felt like my matchup knowledge against Ryu once again goes up .. it feel so good..

I also played sets with Ganoon , Aziz and Mann..
Ganoon Sakura is sooooo tricky..... His setups were very orginality which i didnt see any 1 use before .. hahah but somehow i did watch his videos before so i managed to recognise some of them , it was a good set .. my defence level up again..

Aziz played cammy against me , i start to understand alot more on what to do against this character ..  But i felt my mixups were pretty limited against cammy .. Maybe its time to hit the lab to get more setups..

Then i played with Mann , i actually didnt knew he played Ibuki .. To be honest i was also kinda impress with his ibuki because i know this matchup really well .. I played so much with Vincent Cheah (My singapore homie) , a top ibuki player in my country so i know this matchup really really well , and Gen has so many unblockables against ibuki so it wassnt that hard too.. but we went almost even , he was winning some i was winning some.. Mann combos with ibuki is very on point , didnt drop much against me and his mixups i got hit pretty much , it was different but it was a good experience.. TIll the later part of the set he started dropping more combos though..

Ok tomorrow we gotta head to the Grand Ave with Bahbahani , Mann , Douchebag and Gannon .. the longest mall in the middle east , kinda looking forward to it.. time to sleep if not i definely not gotta wake up tomorrow LOL

In Kuwait !!

Nothing changed much in Kuwait , Everybody was still very nice to me and i have been here for already a few days .. Won the sf4 and Marvel tournament , was really happy .. However , There are quite some top players who didnt join the tournament as they are not going to EVO .. I lost to Aziz in the winners but was glad i am able to comeback in the grand finals..

First day ,  I arrived to Kuwait and Mohammed came to pick me up , it was great to see him again after so long and things were as usual , we had much fun. This trip i stayed at his house , it was really comfortable so i had a great time , I went to whitetower the first day as well and some sets with the top players .. Everything was great i learnt matchups that i wasnt really that familiar , Especially against Cammy and Guy.. Nox2 left a great impression as his guy is probably 1 of the best i fought , i was impressed..

Day 2 was the tournament , i went to the venue .. it was the the same venue as the last time KO during feb .. it was a very nice venue like a theatre .. I felt a sigh of relive after the tournament because i managed to do well especially in Marvel , A game i wanted to improve so much.. i managed to beat players that i completely get dominated the last time i came like DR Mysterious , DeadFish .. Nemesis/Chris player and so onn.. it was a  great day and i had some great food ^^

Day 3  i was playing alot of sets for street fighter , FT 5 and FT 3 .. i managed to win most of them until a random wildcard appear , an ONI player. I didnt really have much experience so i was trying to adapt on the spot against him , eventually i lost but i felt i learnt the matchup better , he was a great player so good gamess.. i nearly get destroyed by Mann Yun as well , luckily i fraud it out hahahha. Real talk everybody knows right i hate YUN hahaha because i play Gen and i felt this is my hardest matchup..  I also lost to Aziz Ken 0_o it was his second main character .. He kinda expose how bad i was with the matchup with Ken LOL .. didnt really know what to do .. managed to get abit more idea at the later games but i was already destroyed .. Hope to play more with him , it will be good practice.. The last time i came Kuwait i lost to Kiyuochuken as well another top Ken player in Japan .. So this Ken experience i am getting will definely benefit me ^_^

I also played some FT 10 for marvel , with the top players here .. it was good i managed to do well against most of them.. but there was one player i didnt really had an idea what to do against which was a Dr Strange Modok player.. I was just getting random hits hahaha

Day 4 i played only FT 10 marvel sets .. As usual the top player DR Mysterious , deadfish and all of them came down to play me. I got destroyed by Dr Mysterious today , he managed to adapt and figure out what to do against me .. i played 2 sets with him against him and lost both , it was good games but i go back and think about think it and see if i can play him again .. I had fun in those sets :) .. As expected i lost to the Dr strange player today , although it was close score .. but still i didnt had a clear idea how to deal with it .. Was asking Shady K for advice after day 3 .. it did turn out a little better and i know more of what to do and deal with it .. but still i keep getting zone out and got hit by the teleports .. AHhhh i feel like talking marvel so much but sometimes i dont know who i can talk to .. or ask advice .. DIdnt wanna bother people too much haiz.. These kuwait players despite beating me , but they still gave me tips and advice on how to deal with their characters .. Really nice people i felt so welcome here .. it was fun , but i will get stronger and try to comeback the next time !!

Today i just found out my flight is not leaving tomorrow but thursday .. I didnt check for the whole while cos i am lazy.. But that douchebag got it wrong too till Cameraman told me -_-" 

Its great because that means i can get more practice again !! i am salty i am gotta run it back to everybody i lost to  arghhhhhhhhhhhh..

Wait .. Too much games .. Haven been playing so much in a few days.. TIme to go to the mall to do some sightseeing and shoping .. Good food here i come .. will update you guys more ^_^

I am excited , are you?

I cant believe i am actually heading on to Kuwait for a tournament this fri , will be leaving as soon as thursday which is tomorrow lol.. this is really last minute though.. its a road to evo i think? 

The last time i went Kuwait was in feb , it was really a great experience because you know i thought of only camels and desert there .. so to my suprise it wasnt LOL and the people were all so nice and sincere .. this probably makes 1 of the biggest reason why i am heading there..

Another thing why i wanna go was because i wanna practice more sf and marvel as after i came back from america and japan , i didnt really get to play good opponents and personally i think kuwait have at least a handful of top players i can practice with .. Marvel level was suprisingly very good as well so i can play more if not i think i am gotta get rusty by the time my next major comes hahaha

I am always worried about tournaments being laggy , to be honest if i didnt went kuwait before i definely would have miss this trip .. because for some reason tournaments being ps3 or xbox is kinda fine with me as even though it makes a difference , its still manageable as i do play time from time , sometimes ps3 sometimes xbox , more xbox though.. but the last time i went it was very good , no lag nothing at all makes me feel no worries about this issue..

Because the players there are pretty good too , at least even if something cropped up i can tell them .. maybe something like erm.. the stream station lags. I dont like to complaint but at least when shit like this happens , the last thing i wanna face is the players or organisers itself doesnt feel that it lags LOL , well i am just ranting though , i know kuwait players can definely tell if it lags or not and i felt they are quite professional when it comes to these kinda stuff..

The tournament is probably going to be stream , its on friday 17th may but i cant be sure of the exact time though .. but you can check my twitter @XIANMSG for more updates.. I am now practicing ps3 timing as well , i suck at ps3 though LOL too used to xbox timing , but wont take me long to adjust i believe hehehe


Alot of people has been asking me what i want for 2013 Gen , Honestly i do just hope he remain the way he is , nothing much i wanna ask cos i felt he still has potential but just that execution is blocking the way of him rising higher.. but well everybody has a wish list right? Here i go ..

1. Further range and less Recovery on the mantis hands .. you know its really irritating when i do crouch mp into hands at far range and it doesnt connect or sometimes opponent crouching and they can block it (not a combo) .. It definely is not too much to ask for because the hands is only for combos , not really much use outside of that so i guess is fair..

Less Recovery on hands is obvious because i dont want fei long to rekka me on block .. whats worse is ex rekka is a punish even if i hit them, that dont make sense right hahaha its -7 on hit now and more than -9 on block .. so maybe can just change it just a little? maybe -6 on hit and -7 on block? Alot of characters can punish my hands now like ibuki ultra 2 , blanka ultra 2  .. Adon ultra 1 and more .. So its kinda irritating hahaha

2.Light kick gekiro .. Uppercut that doesnt looks like uppercut .. why not just make it more punishable in exchange of proper invincibility so i can uppercut idoits who keep jumping on me? Ahahhahaha

3.Rolling attack .. Come on make it -2 , why make it -3? I cant do it on so many characters .. its not even like that move is godlike , its just a stupid move to gain meter and make people block .. But i guess -3 i can accept it because gen has a little advantage over shoto characters.. but other characters with 3 frame can punish me :(

4.Ultra 2 .. I felt if you could make it so that once it hits , it goes into full animation .. because its already no guarantee damage .. so maybe change it so i can use it as an anti air? Also AIR ultra 2 , is probably mainly used against fireball characters.. its so hard to do it because of the slight height retriction , and i have to tiger knee it .. why not make it no height restriction like yoga shagrila? i dont have that fast reaction you know .. i am a old man..

5.Ultra 1 , This ultra is only use for super then ultra , hahahaha i dont see alot of uses for it..but its about 10frame start up .. even when opponent press something my ultra is too slow to hit them , they always recover in time.. maybe can change it to 8 frame? I will make the game very exciting cos i will do alot of random ultra if you make it 8 frame , now even opponent press something , my ultra doesnt hit damn...

Oh hey i talk about so much BUFFS , and you guys know me i am such a fair person .. Lets talk about some nerf k , Gen has so many strong points as well we should say about nerf too so it doesnt get overpowered..

End of today , IF YOU REALLY THINK I WILL TALK ABOUT NERFING MY OWN CHARACTER , of cos i only want BUFF. I never win big prize money before , so if i TALK ABOUT NERFING MY OWN CHARACTER , how you gotta expect me to win?

yoooo ok its been half a year since i post ..  i am back in singapore now and probably will be kinda free for a month before travelling again ..Thanks  everybody for always supporting me .. i appreciates it. As you guys can see i change the title from xiansf4.blogspot..com to xianmsg.blogspot.com ..

Reason was my twitter account was using the nick XIANMSG , so i guess i should just use xianmsg so people who wants to find me , can find me easier.. Then i also i felt that i have been playing so much marvel and other games , its not only street fighter 4 so i guess thats more of an appropriate title..

Even though this blog as been around for pretty long , i dont really post alot of opinion about players or even myself. I have been thinking alot recently and sometimes i felt coming back to blog may be a good way since i can keep track and remeber it better too .. Moving on from here , my next major is probably CEO , SOUTH SEA ASIA MAJOR and then EVO if everything goes wrong ..

I have been practicing this 2 days in training mode and i realise how long i haven been into the lab with Gen. Haven really do anything new and has been using same tricks that are very gimmicky though , i play around alot with the mantis hands fadc trying out new possibilties.. Will see if i can figure out some dirty stuff in a month 

As for Marvel , i played even much more as i think there are alot of things i can practice.. i was practicing the TAC infinite for morrigan as i felt i actually do met in few situations where i cant kill my opponent and if i had learn how to do the Morrigan TAC infinite could have made a big difference , I didnt learned the mid-screen 1 though thanks to Shady K for actually reminding me that my characters are so cheap that they are usually corner to corner carrier so i am fine hahahha

I practice alot more for Dr doom as well as i felt it was my weakest character , i learn new hit confirms and extended combos too .. Picking Doom as my point character while playing casuals to improve my movement and knowing what to do/deal with other characters. I always get caught in situations where my doom couldnt do anything at all but only waste X factor level 3 and get bodied. I hope i can bring out a better DOOM for the next major i am attending..

To my surprise after i came back , there are actually quite some players playing INJUSTICE .. i went back to tough cookie gaming cafe and see most of them playing it.. As i felt it was more toward Mortal Kombat , i was amazed by so many players actually picking up the game and seem pretty good at it. Unfortunately , i am not playing this game as i already tell myself that i wanna concentrate on the 3 main games especially Marvel and Street Fighter 4..

Yes i am also dropping SF x Tekken and i wont be joining it for the next few majors i am probably attending until maybe after EVO. The main reason was because alot of players are very strong in this version and i haven been practicing this game for sometime , other reasons also include singapore not having more than 3 players playing it so it would be really hard for me to do well , unless i have to spend alot of effort mastering most of the cast or watching videos. I guess i probably choose to concentrate on other games better hahahaha

SOUTH EAST ASIA (SEA) MAJOR suprisingly has alot of international people coming over , i am so excited for this as i wanna see how my singapore mates would do against them .. So far the players that are almost confirmed are Justin Wong , Mike Ross , Yubiken (japanese players Kiyouchiken , Shin , R and others ) Kim 1234 .. Gamerbee from Taiwan will also be attending with his fellow Taiwan players , Their KOF 13 looking really good now so i am kinda looking forward to play them as well .. Not to forget Neighbourhood countries from Malaysia , Indonesia , Philipiness , Thailand will be having lots of top players coming over as well !!

How long i never update blog already !! Hello everybody ^_^
Been since EVO? lol am i too lazy? or been losing too much that i forgot i still have a blog to write hahaha ^^ After Evo , 25th anniversary , i lost to filipinoman and ryan hart , followed by at taiwan losing to infiltration and gameouttt. Got to say i am pretty impressed by infiltration , that was the first time i actually played him in a tournament even though i seen him countless time :)

I almost forgot what happened at both tournaments -_-" but it has been a really stressful period for me , haha preparing to go tournament is so tired .. At least i think i have a month break for now , before i am attending anymore tournament i guess ^_^
Not really sure when is the nearest coming 1 as well..

Recently has been playing alot of persona 4 , getting a little addicted to it lol .. I play yukiko , she seems to be really fun haha .. Life goes on as usual i am at tough cookie working most of the days , tired but yet fun.. Though recently felt a little lonely , maybe been too long since i have a girlfriend? hahaa and yay i know i shouldnt be blogging about personal life since its sf4 blog right lololoool

But i guess i will blog everything a little , for guys following my blog , you should see that i am a really lousy blogger , i am lazy yet lousy too lol .. But i just say whatever comes up to mind haha

I haven been touching sf4 since i came back from taiwan 25th anniversary street fighter 4 tournament , but i will be getting back in track soon.. Shall work a little harder going into the lab , Felt that i have been dropping much combos recently.. Wanted to change my Hk Gekiro timing i can be more consistent when playing tournaments or even casuals .. Just wait awhile more , have fun first playing persona 4 first? hahaa

Lack of accompany is pretty bad , but i realise playing games that i like really make me happy.. Tournament is stressful because of expectations , but going into the lab figuring out new stuff is an amazing feeling .. I start ot enjoy it alot more for some reason lol

There's a player who has been giving me some deep impression , A bison player .. His from America Happy Medicine , i look up a little bit manage to see his videos .. knowing he get 2nd for the capcom 25th anniversary for 1 of the qualifer.. He seems to be getting more and more solid , he's a nice guy too .. Hope the next time i will see him again in the states ^_^

Evo is just around the corner .. Ceo is so hype when i saw the stream .. cant imagine evo2012?
I have been practicing more on kof13 and street fighter ..
As everybody knows , Bala has been dominating the kof13 street fighter tournament for very long , this year with lots of japanese kof players , china xiao hai and dakou also lots of mexician players heading as well .. It will be really interesting to watch , i prepared alot myself too as i really wanna do well in this game ..
It seems japanese is still the favourites to win this year Evo ..
However , alot of americans have proven themself at CEO convincingly showing they are not pushovers too .. I am so hype for this :)
Its only about 1 week plus before me preparing to go Evo ..
Will be heading into the training alot  definely ..
Gackt and Leslie is not going Evo this year ..
So i wanna try my best and hope to do singapore proud..

China tournament is over ..
I had alot of fun over there in guangzhou..
However i lost the tournament really badly lol ..
After reaching there , i realise that poongko and mago was also at the tournament ..
ok that wassnt that main point haha but they told me they were gotta play AE instead
of 2012 .. so i was like .. lol .. still happy that they invited me over ..
Guangzhou is so fun hahaha
had a few matches of casual on that day at 1 of the arcade at tian he cheng ..
Seems like alot of players were there , but there were only 1 AE and 1 2012 ..
i am so lazy to queue so i didnt play much .. just went walk around , the mall is
pretty huge though hahah
the next day i went to the tournament arena , it was pretty grand i would say ..
however it was single elimination and 1 game lol ..
i lost in the first game against rufus :'(

These few days i will be playing more street fighter 
Main matchups i will be training will be cammy , feilong and ryu ..
As Dakou and Xiaohai are the best players there and i gotta train more for these
matchups , however sadly i dont even have alot of experience again cammy ..

Recently saw videos of Sako picking up Gen ..
As always his gen was amazing with great execution ..
How i wish there would be more videos so i can study those matchups :(


Amiyu did really well in shadowloo , saw few of his matches and seeing
him beating the likes of xiaohai and michael really impresses me ..
Will try to figure out some good setups against cammy so i dont get screwed badly
when i go China ahahhaha
I wanted to watch those replays but i dont think its out yet on shadowloo archives :'(
Hope it gets upload fast so i can copy some good techniques haha

Kular Lumpur Street fighter 4 AE 2012 tournament..

Went over there few days ago , saw alot of familiar faces in the tournament..

Its been long since i went to Malaysia for tournament again ..

I fought against Chuan in the grand finals , its was really intense ..

I glad that i took it down 3-2 .. if he manage to reset it , it will be alot harder ..

The most diffcult opponent i fought was probably Andy , Chuan and Keane Hi ..

But i didnt face Keane Hi in the tournament .. I played some casuals with him though..

The people there treat me really nice despite if was my second time going to Malaysia

for tournament already .. They brought me to eat as well after the tournament ^_^

The food was really nice , i think i gotten fatter zZz

This coming Sat 28/04/12 , there is a 5v5 tournament at tough cookie gaming cafe..

Registering at the tournament also means free play for the whole day !!

So be sure to come down and support the tournament :)

Finally blogging again , been too lazy for the past few weeks lol
I am finally back at singapore after going columbus MLG for kof 13 and
big 2 at new york ..
I have alot of fun at the cities in new york , though columbus was pretty much boring
as there are not much things to walk around :'(

I lost pretty much badly at MLG to romance and skye (my singapore mate) ..
I will train harder and be back for the next MLG :(
Skye did pretty well though getting 5th losing to Mr KOF just by a pixel ..
I hope he dont get demoralised and decide to go back once again too :)

Next i went to new york Big2 , for people who doesnt know actually i am very 
impressed by ChrisG umvc3 , i like his morrigan alot as i think its takes alot of
skill to play a good morrigan :)
 I lost to him and chrisG in sfx tekken , they are way better than me , i need to buck
up in this game lol , my abel is kind of pulling me down and i need to improve on my
abel :( 
In umvc3 , i bascially almost get thrashed by anyone there lol 
Amercia umvc3 is just too good for me , time for me to go back and train :'(

I only won ssf4ae 2012 there , dieminion is my toughest opponent i think..
I had a hard time against ChrisG too at the start , but it seems like he dont really play
much anymore , his sakura style is very unique and i had a tough time adapting against
him :( i also think he actually could have won , if he know abit more about how to fight
against Gen , he doesnt seems to know the matchup too , but he's a strong player so 
he adapt well against me too , very strong opponent .. definely would like to play him
more if i had the chance :)

Ok i will blog again soon , seems like next tournament may be CEO and MLG since
its about the same date near each other ^_^
Lastly , i really wanted to thanks Deperation Move (DM) for sending me to this MLG 
and Big2 , i had alot of fun there and everything issnt possible with DM :)

Really happy win Ozhadou kof 13 and SSF4AE 2012 ( i know its outdated ) lol..

Next tournament i will be travelling will be MLG kof 13 ..

I have been playing Kof 13 alot since MLG announce for kof 13 ..

Training really hard now at Tough Cookie gaming cafe everyday and hope to put 

up a good performance by then at MLG :)

Really glad that MLG is picking KOF up , i really like playing kof so i hope the scene

gets bigger and bigger :)

If anybody happen to stay at Columbus OH or anywhere near Columbus

hehehe you are deeply appreciated if you are able to house me or drive me around :)

I have never been to Columbus OH so i will be sight seeing abit too ^_^
